We have a critically important special election primary on June 27 for the 4th Middlesex Senate seat held by the late Senator Ken Donnelly. Ken was an extraordinary leader, and his untimely death was an enormous loss for Lexington and the district.
That is why it is so important for all of us to ensure that we continue to have strong representation and experienced leadership in the state Senate.
We are fortunate to have just such a candidate in Cindy Friedman, Senator Donnelly’s long-time chief of staff. I have known Cindy for over a decade and have the utmost respect and admiration for her. I know her to be a tireless advocate for the residents of the 4th Middlesex, and a full partner in the important work she and Ken engaged in to benefit the entire Commonwealth. She is smart, practical, a skilled problem-solver, and a fighter for our shared values.
Now more than ever, our state government matters. We need someone who will fight to protect the gains we’ve made in Massachusetts – and continue to move us forward – even as events at the federal level threaten to dismantle the progress we’ve made here on healthcare, a living wage, and investment in education and transportation.
That’s why I’m all in for Cindy Friedman and urge everyone in Lexington to join me in supporting and campaigning for her, and – if you live in precincts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, or 7 – voting for her on June 27.
